Biovalorization of Lignocellulosic Materials for Xylitol Production by the Yeast Komagataella pastoris

چکیده
The main goal of this study was to screen different lignocellulosic materials for their ability support the cell growth yeast Komagataella pastoris and production xylitol. Several materials, namely banana peels, brewer’s spent grains (BSGs), corncobs, grape pomace, stalks, sawdust, were subjected dilute acid hydrolysis obtain sugar rich solutions that tested as feedstocks cultivation K. pastoris. Although culture able grow in all hydrolysates, a higher biomass concentration obtained peels (15.18 ± 0.33 g/L) stalks (14.58 0.19 g/L), while highest xylitol (1.51 0.07 reached BSG hydrolysate with yield 0.66 0.39 g/g. Cell from improved by detoxifying using activated charcoal, resulting fourfold increase production, 3.97 0.10 g/L. Moreover, concomitant arabinose consumption, arabitol synthesis noticed, reaching maximum 0.82 0.05 g/L on 0.60 0.11 These results demonstrate feasibility waste, especially BSG, feedstock coproduction arabitol. Additionally, it demonstrates use suitable microorganism integrate zero-waste biorefinery, transforming waste into two high-value specialty chemicals high market demand.

Use of Lignocellulosic Materials for PHA Production
Life of modern civilization is accompanied by accumulation of huge amounts of non-degradable solid waste materials. A major portion of this resistant waste is represented by synthetic polymers of petrochemical origin. The accumulation of plastic wastes has become a very important environmental issue1. Conventional synthetic polymers are problematic not only because of their long decomposition t...
متن کاملHydrolysates of lignocellulosic materials for biohydrogen production
Lignocellulosic materials are commonly used in bio-H2 production for the sustainable energy resource development as they are abundant, cheap, renewable and highly biodegradable. In the process of the bio-H2 production, the pretreated lignocellulosic materials are firstly converted to monosaccharides by enzymolysis and then to H2 by fermentation. Since the structures of lignocellulosic materials...
